How To Claim Bike Insurance For Bike Damage?

Over time, the procedure for claiming bike insurance has changed. Until recently, filing a claim required filling out paperwork and delivering physical records, but things have evolved. A more efficient and quick claim registration process is now possible thanks to technology. Within a few minutes, a claim can be submitted. Most insurance providers offer a seamless process for filing claims through the online platform (website/mobile app). 

Different Bike Insurance Claims

You must notify the insurance provider when your bike is in an accident. The different kinds of bike insurance claims are listed below.

  • Cashless Claims

You can get the bike fixed at the network garage if you have a bike accident and need a qualified repair shop. A network garage is a garage included in the network of your insurance provider. Your provider will pay the network garage’s repair bill by submitting a claim. Pay the required deductible, and your insurance provider will cover the remaining balance. Claims are subject to terms and conditions set forth under the two-wheeler insurance policy. *

  • Reimbursement Claims

If you are in a bike accident and your bike is damaged, you can have it fixed at any garage of your choosing, and you will then be reimbursed for the repair costs. To begin the reimbursement process, you must submit the original repair bill, payment receipt, etc. By the terms and conditions of the policy, your insurance provider shall deduct the required deductible amount and the depreciation of the parts before reimbursing you for the remaining amount. Claims are subject to terms and conditions set forth under the two-wheeler insurance policy. *

How To File A Bike Insurance Claim Following An Accident

There are two possibilities. Either you are the party required to take responsibility for the accident, or you are the victim. In the first scenario, you will file an FIR and claim bike insurance with the other party’s insurance company as the third party. In the second scenario, you must file a claim with your insurer. In the first scenario, you cannot seek compensation from the insurance provider because a third-party insurer will pay out on your behalf.*

Step 3: To register your claim, answer a few questions about the damage and upload a photo of the necessary paperwork.

  • The following documents must be uploaded when submitting a claim on the website or mobile application:
  • In circumstances like theft, the First Information Report (FIR) or police report
  • In the event of reimbursement of bike insurance claims, the original repair invoice, payment receipts, etc. 
  • Driving Permit
  • Bike registration certificate     
  • Insurance policy documents
